Paris Hilton planning humanitarian trip to Rwanda

Paris Hilton has vowed to keep her post-prison promise of devoting time to worthy causes and will demonstrate her commitment with a trip to Rwanda later this year.

The celebrity socialite told the on Wednesday that she is aiming to visit the war-torn central African nation in November after completing work on her latest film.

"I'll be going in November, after I get back from filming my movie," Hilton said. "There's so much need in that area, and I feel like if I go, it will bring more attention to what people can do to help."

It was not clear which organization was helping arrange Hilton's trip, but the hotel heiress said she is planning to do more humanitarian work in future.

"I want to visit more countries where poverty and children's issues are a big concern," the 26-year-old socialite said. "I know there's a lot of good I can do just by getting involved and bringing attention to these issues."

Hilton was in June jailed for violating probation over an alcohol-related reckless driving conviction. She emerged from prison declaring that incarceration had changed her and that she planned to "grow up."
